Volunteers

Science Fair Committees

Ongoing-We meet monthly from October to May for the sole purpose of planning and carrying out the RBSEF and trip to ISEF for the RBSEF Champion and Grand Champion. We meet once in summer to recap the season.

Our RBSEF committees meet periodically year round and more frequently from October to March for the sole purpose of planning and carrying out the RBSEF, and to support sending our Champions to the International Science and Engineering Fair.  We start with a kickoff in the late summer; planning and engagement with teachers, students, and sponsors through the fall and winter; fair execution mid-March; ISEF attendance planning through the spring; and finally a recap celebration late spring.

 

Volunteer Opportunities include:

  • Awards Committee – Check-in, check-out, data entry on Interview day (Tuesday March 11); data entry and printing certificates for awards ceremony (Wednesday March 12); hand out awards during awards ceremony (Thursday March 13 evening)
  • Judging Committee – Assistance with communications to and coordination of Category and Special Award Judges (January – March)
  • Exhibits – help with set up and tear down during Fair Week (Monday, March 10 evening; Friday, March 15 morning)
  • Fundraising – Assist with communications for recruiting sponsors (year round)
  • Communications – Develop media to engage schools, students, sponsors, and community to engage in STEM Literacy through RBSEF (year round)
  • Social Media – Create and post RBSEF content on Facebook, Instagram, etc. (year round)
  • SRC Coordinator – Organize Scientific Review Committee communications (October – March)
  • Branding/Merchandise – assist selling RBSEF Merch during Fair Week (Monday, March 10 evening; Tuesday, March 11; Thursday, March 14)
  • Fair Director Assistant – assist Fair Director with administrative tasks (year round)
  • Name your role – If you have special skills that you think can help RBSEF achieve their mission, we are all ears and open arms
